Using the Plantastic Set Stamp Club stamps and dies to make a gift holder for a plant is a lovely way to give a personalised present!

This Stamp Club has a wide variety of stamps and dies to choose from and of, course you can always use them to make cards too.

You can see how I have used the set to make an acetate card and also a faux macrame card in my video here -

What you will need

- To make the Plant Gift Holder you’ll need the following

- A Plantastic Set Stamp Club

- Craft Perfect Kraft Card

- Craft Perfect Smooth White Card

- Selection of Green Nuvo ink pads

- Black Ink

- Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive

- Nuvo Alcohol Markers – Persian Lime, Vine Leaf and Bamboo Leaf

- Craft Perfect Jute Twine

I made this template which has an 8cm square in the centre to fit a small plant pot. You can adapt to suit your plant pot.

Step 1

Cut the kraft card to 23.5cm x 21cm and score following the template in the last photo.

Step 2

Cut in the four places shown on the long side and reinforce all the score lines.

Step 3

Randomly stamp across the right side of the card with different stamps and 2-3 different shades of green ink.

Step 4

Fold up the sides and glue in place to form a box.

Step 5

Cut a strip of kraft card measuring 3cm x 21cm and stamp the same as the gift box.

Step 6

Attach the handle at each side with a little strip of hi tack tape and some glue for extra grip.

Step 7

Die cut/ hand cut a tag shape, stamp the sentiment and a plant onto each one and colour with the alcohol markers. Add a length of twine to each.

Step 8

Tie to the handle of the gift box.

Now, you can think about making a beautiful card to go along with the gift

What you will need

- A2 card blank

- Black card

- White smooth card, alcohol marker friendly

- Alcohol Markers

- Craft Scissors

- White embossing powder

- Die cutting machine

- Stamping platform

- Shaker foam or foam pads, wet adhesive

- White gel pen

- Nuvo Hybrid Ink, Black Shadow

- Nuvo Diamond Ink Pad, Blue Mineral (part of Sweet Sorbet trio)

- Tonic Super Trimmer

- Removable tape to hold die cuts down.

Step 1

Trim two pieces of white smooth card to 5.5” x 4.25” or A2 size. To make the card frame, line up your card panel to create half of an inch border.

Step 2

Use the double side arrows on the super trimmer to ensure your cuts are precise. Once each side is cut, leaving a half inch border, rotate and repeat.

Step 3

Once all 4 sides have been cut, you will be left with a perfect frame. Repeat this to ensure you have two frames. Alternatively, you could use a set of A2 dies to create the frame.

Step 4

Stamp out the leaves, and flower pots onto Alcohol friendly cardstock, and color with alcohol markers. Once dry, add a few white gel pen details to those images. Die cut the images and the plant hanger twice and large planter in smooth white card. Color the large planter.

Step 5

Adhere one of the plant holders to the back of the frame.

Step 6

Carefully glue the colored plant holder into the hanger, and then stick the second plant hanger behind. This gives the hanger a little extra durability.

Step 7

Add some of the leaves to the hanger.

Step 8

Trim a piece of white smooth card, 5.5” x 4.25” or A2 size. Use Blue Mineral (or any light blue) Hybrid ink to create a soft blue background.

Step 9

Use 4mm foam pads (2mm double stacked) or shaker tape to add your frame to the background panel.

Step 10

Add two planters to the bottom right of the card.

Step 11

Place foam pads on the other frame previously cut out (steps 1-3)

Step 12

Add the second frame directly over the top.

Step 13

Add another leaf to the bottom of the hanging planter. Add a plant pot directly onto the frame in the bottom right corner.

Step 14

White heat emboss, ‘just for you’ onto black cardstock, and die cut with the banner included in this set.

Step 15

Adhere the sentiment, and then add your dimensional card to an A2 cardbase.

Hi friends!

Thanks for joining me on the Tonic blog. Today I’m here to show you this month’s Stamp Club release and as is the case with all of Tonic’s unique Stamp Club sets, how it can be used to create multiple crafty things beyond just cardmaking. This month’s set is called ‘Aloha Paradise’ and as the name suggests, it is packed full of all things fun and tropical; ideal for some brightly coloured, totally-tropical, party decorations to get us in the mood for the summer months ahead!

Below are a few ideas that I had immense fun putting together. I hope you find this month’s Stamp Club as fun as I did, and feel inspired to have a play around with the set.

Party Bunting

A summer garden party is the perfect excuse for ‘bringing out the bunting’!

Here I have made some mini bunting using a combination of cardstock that I decorated myself using the stamps from the set, along with some of the beautiful Craft Perfect - Tropical Paradise double-sided patterned papers, which I thought would be the perfect combination of colours for my theming.

To create the pineapple and hibiscus patterns, I randomly stamped the images using Nuvo Clear Mark and heat embossed them using Nuvo Embossing Powders (white on the kraft card and gold onto white cardstock). I then added colour and detail using Nuvo Aqua Flow Pens and some ‘splatters’ in Nuvo Glitter Spray and watered down Nuvo Vintage Drops.

To the patterned cardstock, I added some stamped images that I coloured in using Nuvo Alcohol Markers, popping them onto foam pads to give them a bit of height.

The triangle shapes I trimmed down using a mini guillotine and I hung the flags using Craft Perfect: Bakers Twine.

Cupcake Toppers & Straws

Some fun and quirky cupcake toppers and straws decorated with stamped images from the Aloha set (the cupcake toppers I combined with icing and strawberry images from previous Stamp Club set: Delicious Desserts) All were coloured in using Nuvo alcohol markers and attached using a hot glue gun.

Pinwheels

These cute pin-wheels I made by cutting down pieces of Craft Perfect: Tropical Paradise double-sided patterned paper to measure 12 x 12cm and then folding them on the diagonal to create four triangles. Afterwards, I cut along each seam approximately 2/3 of the way to the centre. Bending (but not folding) one of each of the cut corners, I glued the tips to the centre. Using a long pin, I then pushed a hole through the centre of the wheel, as well as through a small die cut circle in contrasting patterned paper and the top of a paper straw. To hold it all together, I used a brass split-pin, which I pushed through the circle first, followed by the wheel. Before passing and securing the split-pin through the straw at the back, I also added a small bead. Finally, I glued on a stamped image that I had coloured in using Nuvo Alcohol Markers, to cover over the head of the brass pin.

Gift/Party Bag Tags

These tags I created by stamping the toucan, leaf and flamingo images randomly onto watercolour cardstock using Nuvo Clear Mark and then heat embossing using Nuvo Embossing Powders (Jet Black, Glacier White & Classic Gold) I then applied colour using Nuvo Shimmer Powders (Golden Sparkler, Green Parade & Cherry Bomb) along with a few white paint splatters for added interest. The die cut tag shape is from last year’s Tonic Craft Kit #44 and I used it to cut both the heat embossed papers, along with a complimentary patterned paper from the Tropical Paradise pad. The silhouette images have been cut from Craft Perfect ‘Black Sapphire Glitter Card and the fussy cut heat embossed sentiments have been mounted onto vellum and attached using foam pads for a little extra height. 9mm Craft Perfect ‘Jet Black’ ribbon and some twine finish off the tags, along with a few black gems dotted around.

Party Invitations

This party invitation is a combination of the Aloha Paradise Stamp Club set and Craft Kit #31 - Tropical Paradise. The leaf images have been stamped using a masking technique and heat embossed in white embossing powder. The die cut hibiscus from the craft kit has been layered up twice; one I glued down the bottom one, I coloured it in using Nuvo Aqua Flow Pens and I then tidied it up with a second die cut layer, cut out of ‘Baroque Rose’ Craft Perfect Mirror Card. The number 40 I cut using Tonic’s Number Dies, which I then ink-blended and stencilled over with Nuvo ‘Moonstone’ Glimmer Paste. For the date and time I used the Tonic Keepsake Creator Die set.

So that’s me all summer party ready! This month’s Stamp Club has been so much fun to play with and I hope it’s giving you some ‘Summer Feels’ too.

As always, thank you so much for stopping by on the blog today and happy crafting!

Hi crafty friends!

I’m back on the Tonic blog today, to share with you a fun make I created using this month’s new Tonic Stamp Club release - Picnic Party; where I have combined a stamped background along with some cute ‘tomato’ characters I made using basic die cut shapes. If you don’t have dies of similar shapes in your crafty stash, these could just as easily be recreated by hand-cutting them.

What you will need

- Stamp Club: Picnic Party

- Craft Perfect - US A6 ‘Bright White’ Card Blank

- Craft Perfect Watercolour Card - A6

- Nuvo Clear Mark

- Nuvo Embossing Powder - Glacier White

- Nuvo Shimmer Powders - Catherine Wheel & Maroon Spark

- Craft Perfect Classic Card - Fern Green & Cherry Red

- Craft Perfect Smooth Cardstock in Black & White

- Craft Perfect Vellum - Pure White

- Nuvo Hybrid Inks - Black Shadow, Rich Rosewood & Parkeet Green

- Craft Perfect 12mm Double-sided Tissue Tape

- Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive

- Craft Perfect Dimensional Foam Pads

- Nuvo Crystal Glaze

- White Gel Pen

- Black Fineliner Pen

- Clear stamping block

- Various sized circle dies

- x1 larger, x1 small flower die

- Blending dauber & pad

- Anti-static bag

- Water spray bottle

- Heat tool

- Trimmer or guillotine

Step 1

On the ‘smooth’ (overside) of A6 Craft Perfect Watercolour Card, randomly stamp out the small ketchup bottle at various angles, overlapping the page edges in areas. Use Nuvo Clear Mark to stamp your bottle images and then cover the entire A6 page in White Embossing Powder. Tap off the excess powder and heat set all of your ketchup bottles

*TIP* An anti-static bag is my best friend when using embossing powders, especially when multiple stamped images are involved, as it stops any powder sticking in unwanted places!

Step 2

Spray both the front and back sides of your embossed cardbase (a crafty friend shared with me the tip of spraying the back at the same time to stop the card from curling and it works brilliantly!) Apply both shades of red shimmer powders all over the page and watch how they all start to move around - I absolutely LOVE this bit. It’s so mesmerising!

Step 3

I wanted my powders to leave more of a ‘watercolour effect’ so to make it less patchy looking, I applied further sprays of water to help them to spread and merge. If you prefer the more speckled effect you could leave out the extra water - It is totally up to you!

Set aside to dry.

Step 4

Meanwhile, out of your red, green, white and black cardstocks, cut the pieces needed to create your tomato characters. This bit is a lot of fun, playing around with and combining different basic shapes that form many parts of the various die sets we crafters own! You may not have the exact same sized dies in your supplies but to give an idea of the dimensions, I cut the following:

● x1 larger red circle, approx 4.8cm wide

● x1 red circle, approx 3.6cm wide

● x2 small red punched circles, approx 1cm wide

● x1 very small red punched circle, approx 0.6cm wide (done using a hole punch)

● x2 white circles, approx 1.6cm wide

● x2 smaller white circles, 1cm wide

● x2 black circles, 1cm wide

● x2 very small hole-punched black circles, approx 0.6cm wide

● x1 lager and x1 small green ‘spiky’ flowers

These are just a guide. Have a play around with the different sized circles you own. Equally, these shapes could be cut by hand by drawing around objects such as coins and pen lids.

Step 5

Using a blending dauber, apply some ‘darker’ red ink to the top right and bottom sides of circles to create a bit of shadow and give them a more ‘3D’ effect. Next, take one of the two smaller sized circles and cut it down into two slim semi-circles, as shown. Carefully ink-blend the cut edge also.

Step 6

Using a dark green ink, apply to the tips of your green flower shapes. Using a small pair of craft scissors, trim them down as shown to resemble the leafy tops of your tomatoes.

Step 7

Glue the white and black circles to create your characters’ eyes. On the smaller of the two eye sets, glue the small red semi-circles to appear like eye-lids.

Step 8

Attach to your eyes and leafy tops to the two largest red circles.

Step 9

Cut down two small squares of adhesive foam pad and attach to the back of the remaining two red circles.

Step 10

Attach the circles to form ‘noses’ and then using a black fineliner and white gel pen, add in some details to give your tomato faces a bit of extra cheeky character!

Step 11

Draw out a ‘splat’ shape on a piece of vellum and then cut out.

Step 12

Trim down your ketchup card base to measure 10.3cm x 14.8cm and cut a second green base measuring ever so slightly larger at 10.7cm x 15.2cm

Step 13

Using double-sided tissue tape along the edges and wet glue in the centre; attach the ketchup card base to the green base and then attach this to an A6 card blank.

*TIP* By nature of the watercolour card, once made wet its edges tend to dry warped therefore I find using the tissue tape on the outside gives a far better adherence without any ‘wobbly’ lifting. It is, however, not very forgiving when needing to stick down with any kind of precision. The wet glue in the centre allows some ‘wriggle room’ to allow the card base to be attached evenly before fully committing the edges. I lifted the protective tape cover slightly as shown, to form easy pull tabs which I find are very handy once I have ‘wriggled’ my cardbase into position!

Step 14

To make your splat shape stand proud of the card, stick some trimmed down adhesive foam pad to the back of the vellum shape (only in the centre so that your tomato characters will cover it). Attach the splat to sit roughly in the centre of your card.

*TIP* Have a dry run first and play around with the orientation of your splat shape to decide how it works best with your tomatoes.

Step 15

Glue the larger tomato directly onto the vellum. Put some adhesive foam pad onto the back of the smaller tomato and attach, slightly overlapping the bigger one.

Step 16

Stamp out the ‘Let’s Ketchup’ and ‘sometime soon’ sentiments in black ink onto white cardstock and trim down. I added a little border detail in fineliner using a ruler. This could be done freehand instead or alternatively kept plain if you prefer.

Step 17

Apply adhesive foam pads to the back of your sentiments and attach. Again, you may wish to play around with positioning first and see where they work best with where your ketchup bottles happen to be. I originally saw both of my sentiments going top and bottom centre but found I didn’t like how they covered the bottles, so it’s worth having a little play.

Step 18

Finally, apply some Crystal Glaze to the noses of your cheeky toms to give them a bit of extra fun glossy pop! Leave to dry to go clear.

Alternatively, clear ‘Morning Dew’ Nuvo Crystal Drops would work just as well if you don’t have any Crystal Glaze.

And there you have it… A cute ‘punny’ card that is ideal for writing a note to someone you’ve not seen in a while or even as an invitation for a long-overdue catch up!

I hope that I’ve been able to show how if we look at some of our basic die shapes in slightly different ways, that they can be combined to create something totally different. Have a play and hopefully you’ll give creating your own fun little tomato characters a go!!

Thank you for visiting my post.

Happy crafting!

Hello, Sophie here with a quick project I made using the Simply Stamped die & stamp set.

As soon as I saw these stamps they reminded me of the wax seals you see on fancy letters in films, so I set out to make my own!

To make the wax seal you will need:

- Simply Stamped die & stamp set

- Die cutting machine

- Embossing powder

- Heat Gun

- Stamping Block/Platform

- Envelopes

- Twine

- Craft Perfect Redline Tape

Step 1

First, I cut out a circle using the die from the set and my Tangerine.

Step 2

Then I used our Nuvo Clear mark ink and Embossing Powder in Medici Crimson to cover. I then used a heat gun to melt the embossing powder and let it cool.

I repeated this step 3-4 times to build up some layers. Then while the last layer was still hot, I carefully but firmly pressed in one of the stamps from the set to leave an imprint in the embossing powder.

Step 3

I added my “seals” to envelopes I’d decorated with some twine and jute banding, using Craft Perfect Redline Tape.

Step 4

I also tried this technique out using Classic Gold Embossing powder to make what looked like gold coins.

I think this could also look cool using black embossing powder, using a glitter marker to pick out detail.

Hello fellow craft lovers!

This month at aircraftcreeper it’s ‘Ink-tober’, so to help celebrate I have been having a play around with many of Tonic’s fabulous ‘inky’ Nuvo products to create this cute pair of brightly coloured monster cards using the exceptionally fun and newest Stamp Club release called ‘Little Monsters’. I hope you will join me in getting messy and having some inky fun!

To make these card, you will need the following:

  • Stamp Club: Little Monsters Stamp and Die Set
  • Craft Perfect Watercolour Card
  • Thick smooth white cardstock (suitable for ink blending)
  • Craft Perfect ‘Glossy Black’ & ‘Chrome Silver’ Mirror Cardstock
  • Craft Perfect ‘Mauve Purple’ Classic Card
  • Craft Perfect A6 Bright White Card Blanks
  • Trimmer or guillotine
  • Nuvo Hybrid Inks - Lime Burst, Rubber Duck, Carrot Stick & Black Shadow
  • Ink blending brushes or sponges
  • Nuvo Sparkle Sprays - Apple Spritzer, Frosted Lemon, & Tender Peach
  • Nuvo Aqua Flow Pens - Sliced Kiwi, Mango Mimosa & Tomato Juice

  • Nuvo Aqua Flow water brush
  • Nuvo Crystal Drops - Simply White, Ebony Black & Morning Dew
  • Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive
  • Spray bottle of water
  • Tangerine Die Cutting Machine
  • Paintbrush
  • Low tack tape or washi tape
  • Nuvo Alcohol Markers
  • White Gel Pen
  • Nuvo Clear Mark Embossing Pad
  • Nuvo Embossing Powder - Jet Black
  • Heat tool

Step 1

Using a trimmer or guillotine, cut:

● x1 piece of watercolour card to measure 3 x 6”

● x1 piece of thick smooth white cardstock (suitable for blending inks) to 3 x 6”

● x2 pieces of Craft Perfect ‘Glossy Black’ Mirror Cardstock to measure 8 x 15.6cm

Finally, trim 2mm off the bottom of x2 A6 Card Blanks (if you are looking at them in portrait orientation).

Step 2

On the smooth cardstock panel, start by by blending your yellow ink in the centre of the panel, in circular motions. Then add the green and orange inks on either end, blending into the yellow.

TIP: If you are anything like me, I’m quite a messy crafter (inky fingers get everywhere!) So I find it can be helpful to rest my fingers on something like a post-it-note (sticky side up) so that I don’t leave unwanted finger prints in where I’ve already inked and end up transferring them where I don’t want them!

Step 3

Holding the bottle approximately 10-15cm away, add a couple of sprays of each coordinating Shimmer Spray over the top of your inked areas. The sparkle spray can be heat dried with a heat tool to save on time or left to dry naturally.

* Sparkle sprays are some of my absolute favourite Nuvo products but they can get pretty messy! I highly recommend spraying directly into some sort of low-sided box. Here I have used a plastic tray but an old cardboard box (like the ones you recieve all of those lovely Tonic goodies in) is perfect.

Step 4

Once dry, it’s time to add some splats! Separately, squeeze out a small amount of white and black Crystal Drops and mix with a little water to get the perfect ‘flicking’ consistency. Using a paintbrush, ‘flick away’ at your page to create a random effect. Apply as little or as much as you fancy.

I absolutely LOVE having a play around with this effect. It too can get rather messy though, so you may choose to do this in your ‘spray box’ as well.

Step 5

While you wait for your Crystal Drops to dry, take your watercolour card panel and spray with water.

Starting at the top, apply your green Aqua Flow Ink to the page, going a little over a third of the way down.

You can either work directly from the pen or squeeze out a small amount of ink onto a glass mat and apply using a water brush. Repeat this with the yellow ink, blending into the green.

To make a slightly more orange tone, I mixed the ‘Tomato Juice’ and ‘Mango Mimosa’ together. (Don’t think I’d fancy that combination as an actual cocktail mind you!)

I then blended the new colour into the yellow in the same way as before.

I then blended the new colour into the yellow in the same way as before.

Step 6

Ensuring the entire ‘splat’ panel is dry, secure into place the circles die from the Stamp Club set and run through your die cutting machine. Ensure you keep both the panel as well as all of the individual circle die cuts.

Step 7

Take your watercolour card panel and glue the corresponding colour circles over the top to create a ‘random’ dotty effect.

Step 8

Next, apply some adhesive to your die cut panel and stick to one of your glossy black panels, ensuring a thin, even border all the way around the edges.

Stick the watercolour card panel to the second glossy black base.

Step 9

Attach the bases to your card blanks as shown.

Step 10

Onto white cardstock, stamp out the four monsters as well as the flask image.

Step 11

Colour your stamped images using alcohol markers. In the above photos is a guide to show the stages of how I coloured mine in and which colours I used.

Step 12

Cut out the stamped coloured images using the corresponding dies.

Using a white gel pen, add in some ‘light’ details and the ‘fuzzy’ fur effect to the baby monster.

Finally, apply Clear Crystal Drops over the monsters’ eyes to give them a glossy eye effect.

Step 13

Now for the sentiments:

Using Nuvo Clear Mark Ink, stamp out the sentiments onto silver foiled cardstock and heat emboss with black embossing powder. Then trim into thin banners.

Attach the sentiments to the purple cardstock and trim to create a thin border of no more than 2mm thickness.

In silver foiled cardstock, die cut the ‘Friend’ banner and attach a strip of black glossy cardstock to the back to show through the ‘FRIEND’ letters. Attach the silver foiled centres to the letters ‘R’ and ‘D’.

In both the purple and glossy black cardstocks, die cut the ‘Hi’ sentiment and adhere on top of one another to create a ‘drop shadow’.

Step 14

Using thin foam tape, attach the monsters and sentiments to the card fronts and there you have it...your monstrous pair of fun cards are finished!

I hope you have as much fun with this stamp set as I have...and hopefully not got TOO messy in the process! ‘Ink-tober’ sounds like my kind of month!...I hope you also get to enjoy playing around with some Nuvo to see what vibrant combinations you can come up with.

Thank you so much for reading my blog.

Happy crafting!

Hello lovely crafty friends, I’m Sasha. So today we are going to be hopefully getting a head start on our Christmas card making with this beautiful Christmas Rose stamp set. It's a super simple but very effective card that you can definitely mass produce as long as you have the patience of 10 Saints haha.

To make the Christmas Card, you will need the following:

  • Christmas rose stamp club set
  • Blue frost pearlescent cardstock
  • Harvest Gold mirror card
  • Gold gilding flakes
  • Champagne shine pure sheen sequins
  • Nuvo embossing powder in pine needles, twinkling tinsel, turquoise lagoon, pearled pistachio, glimmering green and snow crystal
  • Heat resistant vellum
  • Clear mark embossing ink
  • Anti-static bag
  • Heat gun (for heat embossing)
  • Scissors (for fussy cutting)
  • Tiny blending brush or paint brush
  • White cardstock for card base

Step 1

Take a sheet of blue frost cardstock and cut it into a 3.5” x 8” panel. Then use your small blending brush or paintbrush to brush on some Nuvo deluxe adhesive (or use the flat tip glue pen). It doesn’t have to be in a particular pattern, you are just applying a light layer of glue in random shapes.

Step 2

Add your gilding flake over the sticky bits and leave for about 20 seconds so that it adheres and dries slightly.

Step 3

Grab a hard bristle paintbrush or one of the Tonic surface sweep brushes and brush off the excess gilding flakes. TIP: use a sheet of copy paper to collect the excess gilding flakes so that you can put them back in the bottle.

Step 4

Grab your vellum, stamping platform, and embossing ink. Take the leaf stamp from the stamp club set and start stamping it onto the vellum with the embossing ink. Don't forget to use your anti-static bag before you stamp. In total I made 3 leaves for each colour of embossing powder so 18 leaves in total.

Step 5

Fussy cut out all your leaves. I'm sorry this leaf doesn't come with a die because that would make things easier. Just pop on a tv show and get cutting you will be done in no time.

Step 6

Grab your blue frost panel and start figuring out how you want to arrange your leaves but don't glue anything down yet.

Step 7

Once you have a design you like, start sticking down your leaves. I worked from the bottom going up but you can work from the top going down. The trick is to add a dab of glue to the bottom inch or so of your leaf then stick it down.

Step 8

Once you’ve done about three or 4 leaves the first ones should have adhered so you're going to give them a bit of a lift off the page by bending the vellum upwards slightly. I think this adds a beautiful dimension to the card and really gives it that wow factor. Just imagine what a showstopper it's going to be on the mantle.

Step 9

Die cut a sentiment three times with the word dies from the stamp club set. I went with Merry Christmas. Take all three dis cuts and stick them on top of each other to give your sentiment some dimension and stability. Then stick it onto the bottom bit of your card. Remove the protective layer from the acetate and then glue on your sparkly top layer.

Step 10

Now add some gold sequins wherever you would like for some extra pizazz. Once everything is dry take your panel and add it to your card base. To make a card base you need a piece of cardstock that is 8” x 7” which you are going to score at 3.5 then fold it. Now stick your complete panel over your card base and you have made a festive slimline card!

Thank you so much for crafting along. Hopefully once you've had one go, then you can make plenty more.

Hi there! Today is all about the NEW Stamp Club release –Sunshine and Sunflowers! My project focuses on colouring with Nuvo Alcohol Markers and composition. I am in love with this set and it sets my soul to happy.

What you will need

  • Tangerine die cutting machine
  • Tim Holtz Stamp Platform
  • Trimmer
  • Black Craft Perfect Card
  • A2 Card Blank 5.5 inches by 4.25 inches
  • Alcohol Friendly Card
  • Nuvo Alcohol Markers

  • Petals 449, 451, 453, 473
  • Centre 449,451,453,473,381
  • Leaves Stalk 360,363,369,
  • Ladybird 391, 374
  • Bee (optional) 391, 403

  • Nuvo Hybrid ink – Black Shadow
  • Removeable Tape, scissors
  • Adhesive -wet, foam pads
  • White/Black ink for splatter (optional)
  • Nuvo White Heat Embossing Powder
  • Anti-static bag (optional)
  • Heat Tool
  • Nuvo Clear Embossing Pad

This is a coloring tutorial and we will go through each step so you can create a beautifully colored card. These Alcohol markers take some getting used to as they are layering pens. I hope to provide an informative tutorial filled with easy steps that will set you up for success.

Step 1

Stamp out the largest sunflower and lay out 449,451,453, 473.

Step 2

Add a layer of 473. You can colour a few petals at a time, but I thought it would be more beneficial to show you individual coloring steps.

Step 3

Add a layer of 449 over the top part of your petal and the bottom part, leaving a clear gap in the middle.

Step 4

Add a slightly smaller layer of 451 to the top and bottom of your petal, leaving a gab between each color.

Step 5

Use 449 to blend your pinks but remember to leave the centre.

Step 6

Add 453 at the very top and bottom of your petal for the darkest shading.

Step 7

Blend the centre with 473 into the lightest pink. You can repeat the steps for added depth but remember Alcohol markers dry lighter and look different when dry.

Step 8

Repeat the steps above as color each petal. I find it easier to color the inside layers first but that’s my personal preference.

Step 9

Once your finished with your inner petals use your blender pen to fix any outside the line mistakes. These do take some time to color and don’t rush the process, enjoy it.

Step 10

Now color in the top layer of petals. I’ve colored some the same way as the steps above and others I’ve left the top lighter. Either way looks beautiful.

Step 11

Use 473 to color in the middle of the flower.

Step 12

Use 453 to create a dark circle on the outer ridge of your centre.

Step 13

Blend through with 451.

Step 14

Stipple 381 around the outer edge of the centre to create the darkest part of your flower.

Step 15

Add 453 and then blend out with 451, leaving the centre as yellow as possible.

Step 16

Stamp out three leaves and colour using 360, 363, 369 in layer the same way as the petals, but you can play around where you want the darkest parts. There are three different examples where you can put light and shadow, and they all look great.

Step 17

Cut your white alcohol friendly paper to 5.25 x 4 inches and stamp out one of the stalks. Clean and bend the stamp in another direction and stamp again. Color in using 360, 363, 369.

Step 18

Stamp out the ladybird. I wasn’t sure which one I wanted to use so I stamped and colored both in 374 and 391. White heat emboss your sentiment onto black card.

Step 19

Repeat coloring on a second sunflower then die cut your elements.

Step 20

Take a moment to consider composition – where will my leaves sit, what about the sentiment, do I need to cut my panel down, etc.

Step 21

Trim your stamped panel down to 3.5 inches by 4.75 inches. Mat and layer a black piece of cardstock 3.75 inches by 5 inches. Place your die cuts into position, some with foam pads and some with wet adhesive.

Step 22

Attach your sentiment and ladybird then mount onto an A2 card blank.

Step 23

Take a photo to catalogue your work or you might forget what your colored.

Step 24

Let’s take it to the next level...

White Heat emboss an additional sentiment onto black card. Stamp out a bee and color with 391 and 403. Attach these extra elements to your card and splatter with white and black ink.

Do you have a favorite version? I love them both and think using alternative colors like pink for the sunflowers really brought out my creativity. If you’d like to see a more advanced card, I’ll be on the blog again next month mixing wet and dry mediums. There is a full coloring tutorial on my YouTube Channel, @kittenmoose.

Have a great day and I hope you found this informative and inspiring.

Sending love

ta,

Jen xx

This month’s Stamp Club goes absolutely perfectly with Stamp Club #4 from a few months back, so if you were lucky enough to get that set (Shoot For The Moon) before it sold old, this new ‘Shoot For The Stars’ set is the perfect partner :D However it’s also a fantastic standalone set as well :D For this step by step I thought I’d show you a quick and easy galaxy background using Aqua Flows and Black Soot Distress Ink and for something a little different I thought we’d turn the background into some galaxy tags :D And the tag die is actually from Tonic Craft Kit #44 which those of you who have already ordered it will be receiving very soon :D Or if you’re quick you should still have a couple of days left to get it provided it hasn’t sold out :D

What you will need

What you will need

  • Stamp Club #9
  • White card
  • Nuvo Aqua Flows - Surprise Party
  • Nuvo Light Mist Spray Bottle
  • Black Soot Distress Ink
  • Nuvo Large Ink Blending Brush
  • Nuvo Mica Mist - Aspen Gold
  • Nuvo Glitter Drops - Honey Gold
  • Nuvo Clear Mark Ink Pad
  • Nuvo White Embossing Powder
  • Craft Perfect Golden Mosaic Card
  • Vellum
  • Tonic Craft Kit #44 (or another Tag die)
  • Black and White Bakers Twine
  • Organza Ribbon.

Step 1

Pick 3 colours of Aqua Flows, something that you want to show through the galaxy, they can be analogous colours too, but I chose primary colours as they all come in the same set, Surprise Party.

Step 2

Start with your lightest colour and add random blobs all over your A5 piece of white card.

Step 3

Repeat with the next colour

Step 4

Then fill in the final places with the darkest colour, I know it looks like a mess, but it will all come together in the end.

Step 5

Spray your background with water to help the colours moved and meld together a little.

Step 6

Once dry, cover the whole background with a light layer of Black Soot Distress Ink. The Large Nuvo Ink Blending brushes are fabulous for applying Distress Inks and for coving large areas too.

Step 7

Take small paint brush and some water and splatter all over the background to create some ‘stars’. The water will react with the Distress Ink and when you blot the surface lighter speckles will appear giving that star look.

Step 8

You can also splatter on some Mica Mist too, I think the Apsen Gold works great as it’s a nice subtle gold colour.

Step 9

Repeat steps 6-8 again to deepen the bacground. Or you can leave it like step 8 if you prefer seeing more of the colours, but this picture in step 9 has a second layer of everything.

Step 10

Use some of the star stamps and the constellation stamp over the top of your background with some white embossing powder. And don’t worry if extra powder sticks to any slightly damp places (as mine did) as I think it adds to the galaxy look

Step 11

Die-cut your background using your chosen tag die, I have used the one from Kit #44 as it was a nice large size and the hole is already incorporated into the cut. Or alternatively you can cut the background into smaller rectangles and clip the corners to look like a tag if you don’t have any tag dies.

Step 12

Die-cut a load of elements for your tags from a mixture of White card, vellum and Golden Mosaic specialty card too.

Step 13

Place everything you’ve cut onto your tags to check you have all the pieces you want. Then decide what sub-sentiments you need for the scripty words and white heat emboss them onto dark card.

Step 14

Glue everything in place and embellish with bakers twine and organza ribbon, which ever you prefer, or both like I’ve used

Step 15

And for a final touch, add some Honey Gold Glitter Nuvo drops too

Step 16

You can create this same galaxy background with all sorts of different underlying colours, tailoring them to you recipient too

This month’s stamp club is packed full of gorgeous underwater designs and some very punny sentiments based around the Whales :D I think it’s a fab set for simple one layer cards focusing on the puns, or using tonnes of the elements to build up a proper underwater scene. I think it lends itself to being made into stickers or even magnets for children to play with too :D For the Step By Step I decided to show you a masked design card with a really simple but effective background :D Hope you like it! Christine

What you will need

What you will need

  • Stamp Club 8
  • Tonic Travel Stamping Platform
  • Black Shadow Ink
  • Nuvo Alcohol Marker Pens
  • Large Nuvo Blending Brush
  • Precision Nuvo Blending Brushes
  • Blue Distress Inks/Oxides
  • Post-it Notes
  • Tangerine Die-cutting Machine

Step 1

Create a circular design with a couple of the whale images, (the left hand side one could also be the third whale too if you’d prefer) focusing the circle towards the top of the card panel (10x13cm)

Step 2

Create masks for your stamped whales, while you have your stamp on your stamping platform, simply place the post-it over the image you just stamped, and stamp again to get the image on the post-it.

Step 3

Cut out all 3 masks, and place them back over the stamped images, I chose to fussy cut my images right up to the line, but if you don’t mind your images having a white halo, you could use the coordinating dies to cut out your masks.

Step 4

Use the circular fishes die to create a stencil from some scrap white card.

Step 5

Add some light patches of ink blending onto your background (the masks will protect the whales for you) in a couple of shades of blue as the starting point for your background.

Step 6

Use the stencil we cut earlier along with a precision blending brush to add the fish design to the centre of the stamped whales.

Step 7

To give the water a bit of ripple motion, use the bendy line stamp to add a few horizontal lines to the background.

Step 8

Build up more of a scene by adding some stamped fish and also some seaweed/coral towards the bottom of the card panel.

Step 9

And for some extra visual texture, add some splashes of Aqua Flow/Water/Aqua Shimmer, whatever you have on hand, you could even water down the ink from one of the ink pads you’ve used too.

Step 10

Finally remove your post-it masks to reveal your 3 protected whales.

Step 11

Now it’s time to colour your Whales :D If you’re struggling to know what colours to use, these are the colours I chose

Step 12

To give the Whales a slightly more blue grey look, rather than the brighter blue of the 425,427,428 pens simply colour over the blues with the 485 marker, this will add that grey tone, and you can come in with the next grey tone to deepen any shadows too.

Step 13

Finally chose one of the punny sentiments from the set and add it to the centre of the card (If you’ve chosen a longer sentiment, you could snip it into 2 so you could stack the 2 parts inside the circle too).

Step 14

And there you have your finished card.

https://www.aircraftcreeper.com/blogs/import-blog-tonic/magazine-13-layered-wreath-with-karen-rowland 2020-11-06T05:29:20-05:00 2020-11-06T05:29:22-05:00 Magazine 13 - Layered Wreath with Karen Rowland Cameron McCann

Die Set Hints & Tips

Step 1

Cut wreath die in various shades and textures of the same colour.

Step 2

Layer these on top of each other, turning them so you get to see the different parts of the layers.

Step 3

Add on either flowers or snowflakes depending on your occasion.

Step 4

Another way to layer your wreath is to cut them in contrasting colours then snip away some parts of the top layer.

Step 5

Layer together leaving the bottom layer to show through. Finish with the flowers cut from another colour.

Step 6

You can add a backing layer to this, cut the largest outer edge die.

Step 7

Lay the die cut over the top, matching the shape.

Step 8

You can take this a step further by cutting out the inside. While the die cut is lined up with the outer edge, place the inner cutting die, matching the shape and tape down well so it doesn’t move.

Step 9

Remove the die cut and cut it out. Glue the wreath in place.

Stencil Hints and Tips

Step 1

To create a wreath design using any of the corner embellishments. Mark a pencil cross centrally on your card front. Mask the rest of the designs and tape into position on your sheet of card. With the corner of your stencil pointing upwards and lining up the centre of the flower with the pencil line.

Step 2

Erase the portion of pencil line showing through the stencil image. Ink your first colour, I used Nuvo Precision Blending Brushes. I have applied Rubber Duck for the flower and Pistachio Green for the leaves.

Step 3

Wipe the stencil and reposition adding your next layer of colour. Carrot Stick on the tips of the flower petals and Dried Oregano on the base of the leaves.

Step 4

Wipe the stencil again and reposition for the final touches. Using Rich Rosewood, ink the berries and the flower centre, just touching the base of the petals.

Step 5

Turn the stencil 90 degrees, line up your stencil with your pencil mark again and repeat the steps until you complete the wreath.

Step 6

For a corner design choose a part of the stencil to use and mask the rest off. Line up with the corner of your base card. Add your ink using the techniques above wiping the stencil in between to avoid colour transfer.

Step 7

Repeat for all corners or as many as required.

Stamp Hints and Tips

Use your wording stamps in conjunction with your wording dies.

The smaller stamp elements can be used to stamp a background.
