Nuvo Glacier Paste With Michelle Short

Hello there, Michelle Short with you today to take a look at Nuvo Glacier Paste. This is such a fun medium to use to create shine, as well as add texture to your projects. I am sharing three ways to apply Glacier Paste to create different looks. There are currently eight Glacier Paste colours in the range – six existing colours plus two new ones. Today I am looking at the six original colours.

A closer look at Nuvo Glacier Paste

  • Currently Twelve colours in the Nuvo Glacier Paste range
  • Nuvo Glacier Pastes can be purchased separately so you can choose whichever colours you like
  • They are packaged in a robust plastic jar with a screw top lid
  • Each jar contains 50ml/1.7fl.oz of product so will last you a long time

What is Nuvo Glacier Paste?

  • Paste packed full of reflective mica flakes
  • Can be used on a wide variety of materials
  • Can be used on light or dark surfaces
  • Can be mixed with water
  • Can be applied using different tools

TIP: Keep the foam insert in the jar and pop it in the lid. This helps to control moisture in the jar.

Nuvo Glacier Paste Colours

Swatching out colours

I do recommend creating swatches or colour charts for your Nuvo Glacier Pastes. This is very helpful when choosing colours. I created my swatches using tags so that I have a large area of colour to see. I created the tag using white cardstock, but I also swatched the Nuvo Glacier Pastes on to black cardstock to see what they look like on dark surfaces (this is the circle of cardstock that you can see in the bottom right of the tag). This will help me when creating, as I can select the colour that I want to use, but also the surface as well.

3 Basic Techniques Using Nuvo Glacier Pastes

In this video, I share three basic techniques for using Nuvo Glacier Pastes with three different tools:

Technique 1 - Nuvo Glacier Paste With Stencils

  • Tape down a stencil on to a surface using low tack tape.
  • Apply Nuvo Glacier Paste over stencil.
  • Apply a thick or thin layer depending on preference.
  • Move the spatula in different directions to get an even coating.

For this tag, I placed the Linking Rings Stencil over a piece of white cardstock. I then applied Nuvo Glacier Paste – Frostbite using a Nuvo Media Spatula. The stencil was removed and the panel was left for 24 hours to dry. Once dry, it was die cut using a tag die.

The small floral image from the Peony Bloom Stamp Set was stamped, coloured and cut out and added to the tag with foam tape. The sentiment from the Celebrate Sentiments Stamp Set was heat embossed on black cardstock, cut in to a strip and also added to the card with foam tape. To finish off, I added Diamond Sequins from the Nuvo Pure Sheen Golden Years Pack.

Technique 2 - Nuvo Glacier Paste With Ink Blending

  • Tape stencil on to surface with low tack tape.
  • Ink blend through the stencil using a Nuvo Blending Dauber.
  • Using same dauber, apply Nuvo Glacier Paste over the ink blend.
  • Use sweeping motions or dabbing, depending on the look you want.

For this card, I placed the Petal Pattern Stencil over a panel of white cardstock. Using a Nuvo Blending Dauber, I applied the Laguna Bay Nuvo Hybrid Ink pad creating an ombre look. I then added a small amount of Nuvo Glacier Paste – Sea Sprite on to my Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat and picked it up with the dauber. This was then blended on to the panel.

The panel was cut down and added to an A2 white card base with foam tape. I stamped the leaf image from the Peony Bloom Stamp Set on to vellum, heat embossed and cut out. I then die cut the sentiment from the You’re The Best Floral Frame Die Set using black cardstock and adhered this over the leaf image, holding it in place. To finish off, I added Nuvo Ebony Black Gloss Crystal Drops.

Technique 3 - Die Cutting With Nuvo Glacier Paste

  • Paint Nuvo Glacier Paste on to cardstock using a Nuvo Paint Brush
  • Apply one even layer and leave to dry or heat set
  • Once dry, add another layer and leave to dry for 24 hours
  • You now have metallic cardstock!

For this card, I applied Nuvo Glacier Paste – Golden Era using the largest in the Nuvo Paint Brushes Set on to white cardstock. I heat set the layer with a heat tool and then applied a second layer. Once dry, the panel was die cut using the two inside layers from the Delicate Butterfly Silhouettes Die Set.

I scored lines on to an A2 white card base and then added the butterfly on top with small dabs of Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive in the center only. The sentiment from the Celebrate Sentiments Stamp Set was heat embossed on to black cardstock, cut out and added to the card with foam tape. To finish off, I added Nuvo Ebony Black Gloss Crystal Drops.

TIP: While the paste is wet, you can add glitter or embossing powder to it to create different looks.

Thanks so much for joining me today for a look at Nuvo Glacier Pastes.

I hope you have a wonderful day!

Michelle
