Showcase 7 - Exquisite Envelopes With Dawny P

Hello crafters – Dawny P here and welcome to the craft room and this month’s showcase collection. This month our showcase is the gorgeous Exquisite Envelope set of dies which make sweet gift tag holders for you. And not one, but two different designs. You can also use the elements on your cards and other projects.

So what we are going to make today? I thought it would be nice to make a holder and a matching card set, which includes a bit of stencilling as well. We’ll start with the gift tag holder then move to the card.

What you’ll need

What you’ll need

aircraftcreeper Exquisite Envelope die set
Tonic Tangerine die cutting machine
Craft Perfect Classic Cardstock - Arctic Blue
Craft Perfect Classic Cardstock – Bright White
Nuvo Jewel Drops – Limoncello
Buttercup Haze sequins from Sweet Sorbet Pure Sheen pack
Sunrise Yellow and Borrowed Light ink pads and applicator
aircraftcreeper Magnetic Platform
White card base cut to 126mm x 138mm – top or tent fold
Some bits of scrap white cardstock approx 280gxm
Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive
Craft Perfect Adhesive Foam Pads
Strong double sided tape
Small scrap of white ribbon
 So let’s make a start.

Everything you'll need to cut

Step 1

Cut one of this die in Arctic Blue.

Step 2

Cut one of this die in Bright White.

Step 3

And cut one of this die in Bright White.

If you are making a matching card, then you’ll need to cut 2 of these.

Step 4

Now let’s make our stencils.

Take your piece of white cardstock and cut one each of these inside edge dies. Depending on your machine, you might have to run it through twice, especially if your cardstock is a bit heavy. I used 300gsm with my Tangerine and it cut beautifully as you can see.

Time to get your inks out

Step 1

Take a piece of Bright White cardstock and on the smooth side, apply the Sunrise Yellow and Borrowed Light inks randomly.

Step 2

Trim a narrow strip of the inked card and stick it down onto a slightly bigger strip of white card.

Step 3

Now while you have your inks out, place the stencil you made onto another piece of white cardstock and apply the ink.

If you have a Magnetic Platform, it will be your best friend here. Once done, use the outside edge die and cut it out.

Step 4

Repeat for this shape.

Step 5

And also for this shape.

Step 6

Now take your stencilled piece here and glue it to the shape you cut out in step 2.

Lets Assemble

Step 1

Now let’s assemble.

You will need to reinforce the crease lines on the main piece. I’ve left them here so that the piece lies nice and flat for the photo, but now’s a good time to do this.

Once done, glue your stencilled pieces down. Then trim the narrow strip and glue down.

Step 2

Now add some strips of strong double sided tape to the back of this piece. If you want to this as a little pocket, don’t put any on the top section. If you don’t then you can glue all over.

Step 3

Now tie on a small bit of ribbon then stick down to the middle section. Make sure the top – the bit with the hole – is facing the right way.

I won’t tell you how I know this. I also cannot find the red faced emoji!!

Step 4

Add some red liner tape to the little tabs in the middle section and also the side glue tabs. Or you can use wet glue if you’d prefer.

Step 5

Remove the backing tape from the little tabs and bend them in and stick down as shown here.

Or apply glue and do the same if you’re using wet glue.

Step 6

Remove the backing tape from the side glue tabs (or add your wet glue) and stick down as shown.

Step 7

Fold over the top and tuck the front flap into the slit as shown.

Step 8

Glue down your buckle die cut then add some sequins and Jewel Drops

Now For a Card

Step 1

Take a piece of scrap card and using the stencil we made above, randomly apply Borrowed Light ink.

Step 2

Now repeat with the Sunrise Yellow.,

You can cross over the colours and you’ll get a pretty green colour where the inks meet, as I did for the main picture above, or you can leave a bit of space as I’ve done here. No rights or wrongs here – just do what makes your eyes happy.

Step 3

Now trim to 75mm x 126mm

Step 4

Cut two narrow strips of Arctic Blue cardstock to approx 12mm and cut a ‘v’ in one end.

Step 5

Thread through the buckle shape and bend the top bit over a bit.

Step 6

Now hook over the stencilled bit of card and tape down on the back.

Step 7

Stick to front of card.

Step 8

Add a sentiment – I used the ‘With Love’ from the Luggage Tag set but you could stamp one if you’d prefer.

Then finish off with some sequins and Jewel Drops.
